If you preach to people who are in pain you will always have an audience. This is especially true during many big cultural events that we have become accustomed to seeing flash on our screens as a part of the 24/7 news cycle.
At the most trivial level these cultural events are controversial... but often they are tragedy. There is a soberness to it and our hope is that this conversation will help preachers and pastors figure out how to address these big cultural events. There is a lot of pressure to say something and there are a lot of different ways preachers can fall off the horse during these moments.
The volume and temperature on these situations are so high and we need a lot of wisdom to decide how to handle each one as it comes to pass. We have a better story and lens to view each event through and being a shepherd in these moments truly separates our role from all of those just looking to comment or capitalize on a situation.
